Wedding Fabrics

There are many wedding fabrics to choose from to obtain the look you desire. Consider which time of year your wedding will occur to assist in your selection. While traditional wedding fabrics originated from natural fibers like silk or even fine wools, most fabrics are now available in synthetic versions which are less expensive and easier to care for and clean.

Wedding fabrics available are:
  • Charmeuse: Made of silk, soft and lightweight.
  • Chiffon: A sheer, silky fabric often used on top of another.
  • Crepe: A thin, crinkled texture cloth of silk, rayon, or wool
  • Linen: A warm-weather fabric made of flax. It yields a loose weave that is very cool for summer, but wrinkles easily.
  • Taffeta: A fabric of silk, nylon or blends, fine yet stiff, with a sheen; can be used year-round.
  • Satin: A fabric of silk, nylon, rayon, etc., with a smooth glossy finish on one side; comes in a variety of different weights, from very thin and flexible to a heavier version that has extreme body and structure.
  • Silk: A fine, soft fiber produced by silkworms; woven into a variety of textures and fabrics.
  • Velvet: A rich fabric of silk or rayon, with a soft, short thick pile; ideal for cool weather.
